I don't photograph places or things, I photograph LIGHT

I have walked by this spot numerous times but I have never seen a photo here that I thought was worth taking. This particular time the light was just right; a splash of it highlighting the tree on the right contrasting the darkness along the left, the rich colors of the trees and their reflections in a spot that is usually dry cracked mud for most of the year, and a bright sky with a dark ground to balance the whole thing out. Everything fell into place to make a perfect photograph this time. One of my students is taking a photography class in school this year and asked me for advise on how to compose a good photo. I told her, "I don't photograph places or things, I photograph LIGHT." (A quick note, this picture is brighter on my iPad than it is on my pc and because of that I think it loses some of it dramatic qualities)
